How to get to Linares

there are several international airports within 300 km of Linares.

If you don’t use your own car, or a rent car, you can get to Linares by train or bus. Insert “Linares, Jaén” into the Google Maps application to determine the best option (there are other towns called Linares in other Spanish provinces).

The closest Airports are:

  • Madrid. Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. Tjhis is a major international airport with direct links to many countries. It offer many transport options to travel to Linares. There are underground train connections from the airport to Atocha and Chamartin railway stations. Also there are connections with the Bus Station Madrid Sur, in Mendez Alvaro Avenue, 83. Currently there is a standard taxi fare of 30€ to any location in the city centre.

  • Málaga. Málaga – Picasso Airport. This airport is destination for an increasingly large number of international flights. There is a direct coach to Linares at 8:30 a.m, with a 5 hours long journey which 25€. From the bus station in Malaga City there are three buses a day stopping in Linares, that leave at 9:00, 14:00 and 15:00. The journey takes 4:45 hours and is a similar cost.

  • Sevilla. San Pablo Airport. From Sevilla there is a daily train (Talgo to Barcelona) at 8:35 a.m. The journey to Linares takes 3 hours and cost 28€. There are coaches from Santa Justa Railway Station at 15:25 and 16:45, with journeys of 4:30 and 3:15 hours respectively.

  • Alicante – Elche (L’Altet) Airport. This option is only recommended with car hire.

  • Granada-Jaén (García Lorca) Airport. This is the nearest airport to Linares, but receive a small number of international flights. Currently there are daily flights from London City Airport to Granada operated by Bristish Airways. There are not direct trains from Granada to Linares. There are coaches between Granada and Linares, at 11:00, 16:00 and 19:39, with 2:30 hours long journey and cost around 14€.

The destination by railway is the Linares – Baeza Railway Station, located 6 km far from Linares. There is a bus service each hour, as well as taxi.

  • There are daily trains from Madrid at 8:00 and 14:34 (final destination Almería), and at 9:16 ,15:45, 17:20 and 19:18 (final destination Jaén). Journeys to Linares around 3:30 hours long and fares vary according to the train type or category.

  • There is a daily train from Sevilla at 8:35 a.m. (Talgo with final destination Barcelona), with a journey time to Linares of about 3 hours and costs 28€.

  • There is a daily train from Malaga at 8:40 a.m., with a journey time of about 3 hours with a transfer at Córdoba (11 minutes wait). From Malaga to Cordoba by high speed railway, and from Cordoba to Linares by Talgo. Cost about 50 €.

The Congress organisation will arrange with the railway company (RENFE) special prices for the delegates, that will be published at the Updates and News section of the website.

  • From Madrid. Two direct daily coaches from Madrid Sur Bus Station, in Méndez Álvaro Avenue, 83. At 9:00 a.m. and 15:30 p.m with final destination Úbeda. The journey to Linares is 3:25 hours long and costs 24,74€.

  • From Granada. Three direct daily coaches to Linares at 11:00, 13:00 and 16:00. The journey takes approximately 2:30 hours and costs about 14€.

  • From Sevilla. Three direct daily coaches at 9:00, 15:30 and 22:00. The journey takes approximately 4:20 hours and costs about 21€ cost.

Another way to travel to Linares is the inter-city service ALSA transport company. There are long distance itineraries with final destination at Linares and stop at Linares-Baeza Railway Station.

The Access from Madrid, Malaga and Sevilla is by E5 – A4 highway. This is direct to Santa Elena, La Carolina, Carboneros, Guarromán and Bailén.

Baños de la Encina is 8 km from junction 288.

Linares is 12 kms from junction 283 at Guarromán, 10 km far from junction 288, with Baños de La Encina or 8 km far from junction 3 of A-44 highway, near Bailén.
